The content of the Sustainability Report 2012
- The fiscal 2012 edition dialog compiles exchanges with experts as "dialogs" in order to clarify the importance of the "security trade control" which is becoming more important in recent years.
- The episode edition is composed of introductions of products and overseas bases. For environment-friendly products the episode introduces "touch switch" used for switches of Audio in a car and "sticky trays" used in handling of semiconductors, electronic components, and other products, and for overseas bases it introduces the activities of Dongguan Shin-Etsu Polymer Co., Ltd., which was established as a wholly owned subsidiary in 2011.
- The information data edition is composed of "environmental reports" and "social reports". Based on indications and comments on the 2011 edition from third parties, the 2012 edition aims to (1) present environmental data to global bases, and (2) present environmental data utilizing the Web.
- The third party comments for the 2012 edition have again been provided by Sophia University Economics Department professor Yoshinao Kozuma for the 5th time, and will prove useful in application to future activities.

The content of the Sustainability Report 2011
- In order to clarify the importance of information security, the 2011 edition was compiled as an "Information Security Dialog" for discussion with customers.
- The episode edition is composed of introductions of Enviroment-conscious product and overseas bases and examples of environmental preservation activities. The environmentally friendly products section introduces the "Fumigating Yashima Yosaku Sheet" for extermination of pine wood nematode, which contributes to forest conservation, and other products, the overseas base section introduces the activities P.T.Shin-Etsu Polymer Indonesia, and the environmental preservation activity example introduces energy-saving activities at the Tokyo plant.
- The information data edition is composed of "environmental reports" and "social reports". Based on indications and comments on the 2010 edition from third parties, future environmental themes have been set as (1) climate change, (2) conservation of resources, (3) conservation of water and (4) land use and considerations, and the 2011 edition seeks to provide a more thorough understanding of (3) conservation of water and (4) land use and considerations.

The content of the Sustainability Report 2010
- Following on from the CSR dialogue in the 2009 report, we present a Supply Chain Green Procurement Management dialogue about the way we have responded to customer requirements in Green Procurement Surveys over the past ten years and how we intend to respond in the future.
- In the Episode section, we present five eco-friendly products, such as the new fuser roller for energy-saving multifunction printers, Business Continuity Management (BCM) initiatives that involve customers, modal shift in product transportation, and independent CSR Initiatives of local employees of Shin-Etsu Polymer Malaysia.
- In April 2010 the Group decided to strengthen its initiatives for biodiversity conservation by revising its Basic Policy. In this Report, we outline water quality tests of industrial effluent and VOC emissions into the atmosphere. In the future we will evaluate the impact of business activities on the ecosystem.
- Providing third-party impressions, Professor Kozuma of Sophia University Faculty of Economics commented that the report contained a significantly greater amount of social information, which until last year had been relatively lacking. Each year we receive critical comments from Professor Kozuma, and we would like to improve in each of these areas in the future.

The content of the Sustainability Report 2009
- We present a feature article of a dialogue held by managers of administrative divisions in Head Office responding to a customer CSR procurement survey on the theme of "To fulfill the requirements of our customers' supply chain CSR management."
- Since the COP 10 to the Convention on Biological Diversity will be held in 2010 in Japan, initiatives for biodiversity conservation have been attracting attention. In this report we focus on the impact of factory effluent on biodiversity.
- In terms of eco-friendly products, we spotlight the new product Pip Magne Loop and feature the representatives of our client companies to introduce the Group's basic stance of "always thinking from the client's perspective, and making proposals accordingly."
- In the introduction of an overseas base, we feature the Chinese production base Suzhou Shin-Etsu Polymer Co., Ltd., where local employees work independently. In addition to an interview with the president, we present comments from two local female executives.
- Professor Kozuma of Sophia University Faculty of Economics provided third-party impressions for the second time, saying "The social report is significantly less substantial than the extensive environmental information provided." This was a severe comment, but we are determined to improve in this area in the future.

The content of the Sustainability Report 2008
- The report was produced based on the new 2007 Environmental Reporting Guidelines (the Ministry of the Environment), and the "Change of the Main Environmental Indicators" was established. Moreover, Professor Yoshinao Kozuma of Sophia University provided third party impressions as a committee member establishing guidelines for the same.
- This year, the "Corporate Activity Standard" and "Ethics Rules" were newly enacted and published, while the approach to supply-chain CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) was also enhanced based on these additions.
- In order to purchase environmentally friendly materials (raw materials, parts, and wrapping materials) from suppliers having kept environmental issues in consideration, we specified the "Product Content Chemical Management Standard" on the company's customer relations page.
- As in 2007, data concerning the amount of energy used in bulk shipment, and environmental data of both overseas production bases and domestic offices were publicized. We also introduced the company's in-house dialogue concerning how to improve the Environmental Report.
- In EPISODE, as in the 2007 report, we reported on the activity of an overseas branch, with Shin-Etsu Hungary being taken up as the case report for this year. We will continue to introduce the approaches of the overseas branches in years to come.

The content of the Sustainability Report 2007
- Our president's opening message states the Shin-Etsu Polymer Group's will continue its commitment to fostering the formation of a society that aims for sustainable development through green programs centered on the reduction of environmental hazardous substances.
- Every year, we present an anthology of case studies detailing specific examples of our environmental conservation work. In this year's report we add case studies of our social activities, as well as a case study of social contribution efforts by Shin-Etsu Polymer Mexico.
- We also present the basic policies of the green campaign pursued by the Shin-Etsu Polymer Group since 2000, and our second round of medium-term targets, with a summary of seven years of activity to date.
- There is a detailed table listing the acquisition status of ISO14001, ISO9001 and ISO/TS16949 certification and other qualifications by our domestic and overseas production plants for the convenience of Shin-Etsu Polymer Group personnel and customers.
- There are six case studies of our green products, namely new wafer shipping boxes, pop wraps, Shin-Etsu Assist Tape, printer rollers, automobile glass run compounds and our conductive polymer coating agent.
- For the second year in a row, we have published data on energy consumption and waste discharge at our overseas production plants.
- We introduce the Group's global environmental communication system for the management of environmental hazardous substances. Our factories which have received Sony Green Partner environmental quality certification are also featured.
